to be honored at annual Tallahassee Gala
Equality Florida’s event will bring together leaders
in politics, business, and the community
The award is Equality Florida’s highest honor, given annually to a person or group who has shown courage, passion, and support for the cause of LGBT equality.
State Representative Alan Williams’ roots run deep in the Big Bend area of Florida. Throughout his career in public service, Representative Williams has been a powerful voice for equality. His steadfast commitment to LGBT equality has proven him to be a strong ally, both in the legislature and in the North Florida region.
Recognized as one of the nation’s rising political leaders, Representative Williams consistently uses that platform to be a voice for the voiceless, advocating for LGBT equality, women’s rights, voting rights, and affordable healthcare. His record and unyielding passion for civil rights demonstrates a commitment to social justice paramount to both the mission of Equality Florida and the LGBT movement.
In Tallahassee and cities around the state, Equality Florida’s galas bring together leaders and activists from politics, business, and the community. The 2016 Tallahassee Gala is expected to break its previous fundraising record, and welcome over 250 guests. Tallahassee’s honorary host committee this year has 13 elected officials, including legislators, Leon County commissioners and constitutional officers, Tallahassee city commissioners and Mayor Andrew Gillum. Equality Florida co-founder and CEO Nadine Smith will provide a “State of the State” address.
The gala will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at Mission San Luis, 2100 W. Tennessee St.
