The U.S. Supreme Court will soon be issuing opinions in the Perry v. Hollingsworth (California's Prop 8) and United States v. Windsor case (DOMA). These two cases are the beginning of what will likely be more legal wrangling to secure equal rights for all citizens of any sexual orientation and gender identity. PFLAG will hold a gathering the day the decisions come down and will keep making the case that love is love is love, and love is what will make families stronger, healthier and happier. Come join us at Apalachee Parkway in front of the Old State Capitol building, and take a stand for justice. Sign making/gathering at 4:30pm. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT know what day the court will issue its opinions in these cases. This event WILL change to reflect the day that we are gathering. STATEWIDE: TELE-TOWN HALL

Any day now the Supreme Court will decide two landmark marriage equality cases.

No one knows how the court will rule or when the decision will come but we do know one big question all of us will want answered quickly: “What does this mean for LGBT rights here in Florida?”

We’ll be hosting a statewide Tele-Town Hall within days of the court’s ruling and we’d like to invite you to join us.

The Tele-Town Hall will be moderated by Equality Florida’s Executive Director Nadine Smith and will feature a panel of state and national legal experts including Shannon Minter, Legal Director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights; Elizabeth Schwartz, Miami-based LGBT Family and Estate Planning Lawyer; Mary Meeks, Orlando Civil Rights Attorney; and Nancy Faggianelli, a Shareholder with Carlton Fields, one of Florida’s top law firms.

Not only will you hear from leading experts, participants will have a chance to ask questions as well.

Participating in the telephone town hall is easy. Just register by clicking here. On the night of the town hall we’ll give you a call at the appointed time and invite you to join.

No matter the ruling - a sweeping win across the board, a mixed bag of good news and bad or an unexpected defeat - we know we will have important work to do here in Florida.

Momentum is on our side. Florida leads the South with 53% of voters now in support of marriage equality and we are gaining ground every day. This is a pivotal moment in our country’s history and we need everyone who believes in equality to engage.

Bring your questions and ideas. Register today, space is limited.
