The Greystone Inn Continues Growth
The Greystone mansion was built in 1915 as a private residence and has gone through many renovations over the years. There are 17 sleeping rooms in the main building furnished in traditional style. Two separate structures are the Hillmont building (12 rooms) and the Lakeside building (2 rooms) with both offering more contemporary furnishings.
Clark Lovelace, a Brevard native, got an early start on a career in the hospitality industry. At the ripe age of 11, his first job was working during summers for his father, co-owner of The Greystone Inn at Lake Toxaway. Since 2003, Clark has been the General Manager of the Inn.
After graduating from Brevard High School, Clark earned a degree in business from UNC at Chapel Hill in 1997, while working as an apprentice at the Fearrington Inn near Raleigh. This was followed by employment with the Greenbrier Resort and, for a short time, as manager of a new club in the Hilton Head area.
“One day in 2003, the phone rang, and my father said (in effect), ‘speak now or forever hold your peace.’ That was my call to come a full circle back to Greystone, and I have never regretted that decision,” Clark said. complete article |

TNW Ventures, a business owned and operated by Tammy Woods of Pisgah Forest, edged out two other finalists to claim the $10,000 first prize in the Transylvania Partnership’s 2011-2012 business development competition.
Woods’ company is the producer and marketer of Do More Bars, a gluten-free gourmet fruit and nut cereal bar. The product is distributed directly via an Internet website and through more than 100 area grocery and specialty stores.
“I thought I had submitted a good plan, but winning the competition came as a total surprise,” Woods said while acknowledging the award at an event ceremony held March 12 at the County Library.
Tied for second place were Dr. Vicky Bochynek, Atlas Mobile Veterinary Service; and Sam Frady, Brevard Spa/Continuing Education. They received $2,500 each. more |

Grover's Office Supply Marks 35 Years

Sherri and Randy Frisbee offer service with a smile
The term “sustainability” is popular in current business literature, but one of the best examples of long-term success is right here in Brevard: Grover’s Office Supply.
For more than 35 years, Grover’s has been family-owned and operated. The founders in 1976 were Grover and Gladys Frisbee, and they have been succeeded by their son, Randy, and his wife, Sherri.
“When my father worked for Ecusta and played with their industrial league baseball team, everyone knew him as Grover. So when my parents decided to open an office supply business, they named it Grover’s and it has carried that name ever since.” complete article |
