ENTREPRENEUR EXPANDS

Right in the middle of a national and regional economic downturn, Entrepreneur Roger Petit is starting a new retail store located near two of his other business ventures in Transylvania County.

Petit is the owner and general manager of Petit’s Paint and Body Shop between Rosman and Brevard. He also jointly owns the Citgo convenience store, a landmark at the junction of Old and New Rosman Highway, managed by his wife of 31 years, Sharon.

Petit has had extensive experience in the automotive repair business. After graduating from Rosman high school and attending Brevard College, he worked in the body shops of both former Ford and Chevrolet dealers in Brevard. He points out that he set a goal to learn every job in the body shop from frame work to mixing and tinting paints. So he feels it was a natural move for him to eventually go into business for himself, and he started out with a small shop in Brevard.

“Complimentary and Alternative Medicine” (CAM) will be the topic featured at the next BYOB meeting on Wednesday, September 16 at 8:00 AM in the Rogow room at the County Library.

CAM is defined as a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices and products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine, but which are being integrated with traditional medical practices with increasing frequency. A panel discussion by several CAM practitioners and companies in Transylvania County will be followed by a question and answer period.

BYOB sessions are co-sponsored by Blue Ridge Community College, the Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce and the County Planning & Economic Development Department. The program is designed to offer businesses and the general public an opportunity to “get connected and stay connected” with what is happening in the local business arena.
